SEAQIS In-country Training on Inquiry-Based Education in Yangon, Myanmar

With a collaboration program between SEAQIS and Indonesian International School Yangon (IISY) Myanmar, two teams of SEAQIS staff travelled to Yangon, Myanmar to conduct the In-Country Training on Inquiry-Based Education and the Monitoring and Evaluation program. The training was hosted by the IISY from 23 – 24 October 2014 and attended by 22 teachers of IISY and four teachers of Basic Education High School (BEHS) Y. Mingalartaungnyut Yangon. The instructors were Mrs Eka Danti, Mrs Lidya Sinulingga, and Mrs Tati Setiawati from SEAQIS. The participants were very enthusiastic to learn about the Importance of Inquiry-based Learning, Effective Questioning, and Inquiry-based Practical Works in Science.

On the same day, another team consisting of Mrs Atik Rahmawati, Mr Gumyar Gustiana, and Mr Hamriana conducted Monitoring and Evaluation program for SEAQIS alumni in Yangon, Myanmar.

The team had the opportunity to meet the ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Myanmar, HE Dr Ito Sumardi, who gave a warm welcome. He was extremely positive and supportive of the program and added further that he will report this to the Ministry of Education of Myanmar so that it will continue in the future.
