SEAQIS has successfully conducted its annual Science Laboratory Management training course from 5 – 14 May 2015. It was officially opened by the Deputy Director for Program, Dr Indarjani, and attended by 27 science teachers from all over Indonesia and other SEAMEO member countries, such as Cambodia, Thailand, and Lao PDR.

Participants learned about management and administration in the laboratory (including equipment and chemicals), science experiments based on the inquiry approach, how to maintain and repair laboratory equipment, health and safety in laboratory, designing inquiry-based worksheets, hands-on low-cost equipment, and simulating inquiry-based practical works in the laboratory. The participants were actively involved in every activity.

During the training, participants visited Saung Angklung Udjo to enjoy an angklung performance, SMA 14 Bandung to observe the school’s science laboratory, and also Puspa IPTEK Sundial in Padalarang, West Java, where the participants explored various science exhibition. They were also involved in some practical works in the Chemistry Laboratory at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). At the end of the training, participants performed cultural songs and dances of their respective countries and regions.
