Adopting 21st Century Curriculum through SEA Digital Class in Tañong Integrated School, Malabon City, Philippines


Considering the importance of Science and Mathematics particularly in the pursuit of promoting a curriculum that truly addresses the realities and requirements of the 21st Century, the action research on enhancing the ICT-based 21st Century Curriculum in the teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics is being proposed with the aim of overcoming this challenge.

From 11th to 14th October 2015, SEAMEO Secretariat send the researcher experts from three centres; Mr. M. Haidar Helmi from SEAMEO QITEP in Science, Mr. Abubakar Alatas from SEAMOLEC, and Mr. Fadjar Shadiq from QITEP in Mathematics to conduct this programme in Tañong Integrated School, Philippines. The researcher experts conducted a training on the first day on how to utilize the social learning network namely Edmodo to the teachers, particularly Science and Mathematics teachers of the involved schools. This training attended by six teachers and one principal and took five hours in principal’s room equipped with laptops and WiFi access.

The following day, the experts facilitated the teachers to conduct the Science and Mathematics quiz to the students by using Edmodo. The quiz took about two hours in principal’s room equipped with laptops and tablets with WiFi access. The students involved were 20 students from the Grade five of Tañong Integrated School.
