Related to the phenomenon of solar eclipse predicted to happen on 9 March 2016, SEAMEO REGIONAL CENTER FOR QITEP in SCIENCE (SEAQIS) invites science teachers, especially in areas that will be passed by total solar eclipse, to utilize the phenomenon for science learning with inquiry base.

Teachers can involve their students to do measurement or observation in the phenomenon  and or the influence of solar eclipse to their surrounding. The result of this observation, measurement, and roles on science learning is expected to be delivered to SEAQIS in the form of written report that follows scientific writing rules. Then, SEAQIS will give a prize for the best report.


The participant must be science teacher of primary and high school (The participant must fill and return the registration form that can be downloaded from

The report must be submitted at the latest on 23 March 2016 through these emails: and (must both of them).

The winners will be officially announced in SEAMEO QITEP in Science website and the other social media on 13 April 2016.

The winners will get:

  • 1st winner will receive certificate and money which is worth Rp 1.500.000,-
  • 2nd winner will receive certificate and money which is worth Rp 1.000.000,-
  • 3rd winner will receive certificate and money which is worth Rp 750.000,-

The winners’ works will belong to SEAQIS and the committee’s decisions are inviolable.

The winners’ works will be published in the website of the institution. The winners will also be invited to present their works in the training of Earth and Space Science 2016 in Bandung in front of the training participant teachers from Asia Southeast (July 2016). SEAQIS will provide the transportation and accommodation for the winners during the activities in Bandung.
