Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference

COVER-PROCEDING-2015-1SEAMEO QITEP in Science conducted its 5th Annual International Conference on Science Education and Teacher Professional Development (ICon) from September 25th to 28th 2014 in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia. It was attended by the 17 most outstanding science teachers from all over Indonesia and eight science teachers from Brunei, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. The conference consisted of a plenary session with international speakers from the Australian Academy of Science, the Australian Centre for Science Education, Sheffield Hallam University UK, and Southeast Asian universities. The most outstanding participants’ presentations and posters were delivered, and a workshop was conducted.

The conference organized by SEAMEO QITEP in Science in 11 – 14 September 2011 focused on science education. The papers presented in the plenary session could be divided into two major themes: inquiry science in service and pre service science teacher development, and various efforts to improve science education.

Proceedings of the First International Conference

QITEP in Science in 2010, has successfully organized the first International Conference with the theme of ‘Looking Forward to Better Science Education for Better Life‘. It was conducted in Denpasar, Bali, on 17-20 October 2010 under the directorship of Dr. Sediono Abdullah. The results of the conference is the recommendation to inspire teachers as participants to be able to integrate environmental concepts into learning processes and implementing it in daily life. As for the educational personnel, it is expected to provide both moral and material support in the implementation of the formulated recommendation in their respective places.
