On Thursday, 12 May 2022, SEAQIS conducted In House Training (IHT) of “Kurikulum Merdeka” (Independence Curriculum) at Newton Room of PPPPTK (P4TK) IPA. This IHT aimed to enhance knowledge of SEAQIS Academic Team about the new policy of Indonesia’s Education Curriculum.
The resource person of this IHT is Dr Yogi Anggraena, the Curriculum Development Coordinator at Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. He explained the process of adjusting Indonesia’s Education Curriculum in order to recover learning as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic situation. In its implementation process, the MoECRT gave freedom to each school to use one of these three curriculum choices, which are: 2013 Curriculum, Emergency Curriculum, or Independent Curriculum.
The MoECRT also focuses on the school learning process as a medium to provide character education for Indonesian students. The Independent Curriculum was structured by raising the flexibility for teachers and schools to regulate the implementation of learning, from planning to evaluation. It is expected that with the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, teachers can have many opportunities to facilitate students’ learning in a more in-depth, meaningful, and fun way by applying various methods, strategies, and learning models in the classroom as well as having good and virtuous characters.
