The Chinese Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Guizhou Provincial People’s Government, held the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China, from 28 August to 2 September 2023 with the theme “New Vision for Education Cooperation, Common Prosperity for the Belt and Road.” The CAECW actively promotes educational cooperation and people-to-people exchange between China and Southeast Asian countries, thus contributing to Belt and Road Cooperation. A series of parallel sessions were conducted, notably the Cultivation of High-Level Internationalised Talent.
China Centre for International People-to-People Exchange (CCIPE) hosted the Forum, which took place from 30 August to 31 August 2023. Experts, scholars, and practitioners in this field gathered to share their insights on promoting international talent development. SEAQIS also sent its representatives, which were Mr Zuhe Safitra, Mr Gumyar Gustiana Gumilar, and Ms Nurul Khosiyah.
On the first day, the Forum began with opening remarks from important participants, such as representatives from the Ministry of Education of China, the Royal Thai Embassy, the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education, UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research) New York, and CCIPE. Ms Tang Yun (Director of CCIPE’s Division of Major Projects) moderated the first session: a keynote report on the situation, policy, theory, and practice of cultivating high-level internationalised talent. The second and third sessions were roundtable discussions with speakers from various institutions such as the government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private sectors, universities, and international organisations. These sessions focused on the core qualities of internationalised talents and how to cultivate them. The first day concluded with a sharing session by several university representatives and a summary from Ms Xia Juan, CCIPE’s Deputy Director.
The second day of the event was a sharing session among the participants on how they cultivate internationalised talents. The session was initiated by a presentation by Harbour Education about their programmes and activities. This sharing session brought the forum to the end of the event.
