The Camaraderie Match: Celebrating SEAMEO CECCEP’s 6th Anniversary

To celebrate its 6th anniversary, the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP) held a sports match. The match included futsal and badminton and was joined by the seven SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia under the theme “Bersama Kita Kuat Melalui Olahraga.”

The event commenced with a technical meeting session on 7 September and was followed by the main event, which took place from 8 to 9 September 2023. The matches were run at two different places; the badminton match was held at GOR Abadi Cilimus, and the futsal match was conducted at Sampoerna Sports Club. Through this event, participants could explore their talents and interests, while simultaneously strengthening the camaraderie among the seven SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia.

On the first day, the matches were initiated with an opening ceremony and welcoming remarks from Prof Vina Adriany, the director of SEAMEO CECCEP, followed by singing Indonesia Raya and a quick warm-up exercise. The badminton match was symbolically opened by the match between both directors of SEAMEO CECCEP and SEAQIS. Meanwhile, the futsal was opened with an immediate match between the women’s teams, which was later followed by the men’s teams.

The first-day matches were successfully conducted with keen excitement from the participants. Eunike Nadien Larasati, a member of the SEAQIS Women’s Futsal team, expressed her excitement, “I am delighted to be part of this event because it feels less formal and adds to the bonding among the participants. Since this event is a competition, it ignites my competitive side.”

On the second day, the final matches were held to determine the winners. The SEAQIS women’s futsal team managed to secure the 1st place, while the men’s team took the 2nd place. In the badminton category, both SEAQIS men’s and women’s teams achieved the 2nd place. This competition resulted in SEAQIS becoming the overall champion of the year. Furthermore, the match was officially closed and concluded with SEAMEO CECCEP celebrating its anniversary at its office.
