The SEA-BES initiative is led by SEAMEO RECSAM (Penang, Malaysia) in collaboration with three SEAMEO sister centres namely, SEAMOLEC (Jakarta, Indonesia), QITEP in Science (Bandung, Indonesia) and QITEP in Mathematics (Yogyakarta, Indonesia) under the guidance of SEAMEO Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the second workshop of SEA-BES project held on 21-22 May 2015 in SEAMEO RECSAM, Penang, Malaysia, SEAMEO QITEP in Science represented by Ms. Eka Danti Agustiani.\u00a0 The objectives of the second workshop were to develop framework for the Common Core Regional Standards (CCRS) in Science and Mathematics and benchmarking to the curriculum documents of high performing countries namely Australia, England (United Kingdom), Hongkong, Japan and United States of America. The CCRS will provide clear and consistent benchmarks for student learning in science and mathematics so that students graduating from high school will have clear pathways to multiple post-school options.\u00a0\u00a0 Through benchmarking with the curriculum of world-class performing countries, the CCRS can be used to support the development of world class curriculum by each SEAMEO member country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There were three experts involved in the workshop as consultans namely Prof Kerry Kennedy from Hongkong Institute of Education, Hongkong, Professor Masami Isoda from University of Tsukuba, Japan, and Dr. Mark Windale from Sheffiled Hallam University, UK.
