training course<\/a>.\u00a0The exhibition was also participated by Ministry of Education and Culture, several senior high schools in Jakarta such as SMKN 57 Jakarta, SMK St. Theresia, SMKN 63 Jakarta, SMKN 37 Jakarta, and SMK Pelayaran Jakarta Raya, and other\u00a0companies i.e. Yayasan Batik (Batik Foundation), InaCraft,\u00a0ASEAN Traditional Textiles Arts Community,\u00a0Kampung Wisata Edukasi,\u00a0Dian Rakyat, and\u00a0Agro Media Group.<\/p>\nThe next event was the SEAMEO night, the main event of the celebration. The SEAMEO night was attended by the Minister of Education and Culture,\u00a0Ambassador of SEAMEO member countries, representatives of affiliate members, and representatives of partner of SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia. Two flagship programmes and a coffee table book were launched. The first programme was SEAMEO SMART City. That programme\u00a0utilizes digital learning through Information Communication Technology (ICT) in schools by emphasizing creativity and collaboration. Thus, communication and information can be interconnected among schools, cities and countries in Southeast Asia. In this programme,\u00a0SEAQIM will facilitate the Regional Mathematics Wide Assessment Programme (MaRWA) that focuses on the diagnosis of the strengths and weaknesses in learning mathematics, by collecting the relevant data on the competence of primary and secondary level students also their readiness to learn math. Then, SEAQIS will facilitate the Inquiry-based Science Education (IBSE) programme focused on designing science learning in the classroom more interactive by involving ICT in Teaching and Learning Activities. Furthermore,\u00a0SEAMOLEC will assist in disseminating and facilitating the use of open and distance learning effective through ICT, while SEAMEO Secretariat will expand this program to the countries of Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n
As a pioneer programme, SEAMEO collaborated\u00a0with the government of Bandung, Bandung Education Office\u00a0and School Principals’ Working Group (MKSS) to form a digital classroom at the school. A total of 81 schools, 1,250 teachers and 8491 students in Bandung were involved in\u00a0this trial. It is found that teaching and learning materials delivered through multimedia devices such as tablets, mobile phones and computers offer a learning environment that is more challenging and interesting for the students.<\/p>\n
The second programme launched was SEAMEO STAR Village. It\u00a0is a community-based sustainable development model, which can strengthen the involvement of SEAMEO program in the community, particularly the achievement of the seven priorities of SEAMEO, and Sustainable Development Agenda after 2015. A total of six SEAMEO Centers in Indonesia contributed to the program, including BIOTROP, RECFON,\u00a0SEAMOLEC,\u00a0SEAQIL,\u00a0SEAQIM, and\u00a0SEAQIS. Cihideung Ilir village\u00a0located\u00a0at the foot of Mount Salak, Bogor regency, west Java, Indonesia would be\u00a0the target of the programme. The program will run for three years from 2016 until 2019. After three years, this program is expected to contribute to the attainment of 7 Priority Areas of \u00a0SEAMEO. The program is also expected to be replicated in other villages in Indonesia, especially in Java. The six SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia also hopes to expand and share their experience, especially concerning this program with other SEAMEO Centres in the region.<\/p>\n
Third, coffee table book entitled Building Heritage Education, Science, and Culture in Southeast Asia: Achievement of Six SEAMEO Center in Indonesia. This book contains flashback, achievements, and excellent programmes of six SEAMEO Centers in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The celebration of SEAMEO 50th anniversary was concluded by International Seminar conducted on 8 October 2015, in the main hall of Gedung A. HE Minister of Education and Culture, Anies Baswedan, Ph.D., was the keynote speaker of the event.
