Utilising Media Learning Management System for Distance Learning

The Covid-19 pandemic offers challenges and opportunities for teachers and education staffs to conduct distance learning. This situation inevitably forces us to apply new teaching methods by maximizing the internet in distance learning activities.

SEAQIS as the technical implementation unit that implements the development and empowerment of science teachers and education staffs in Southeast Asia, needs to develop an online Training System using several learning system service providers known as LMS (Learning Management System). LMS can help teachers to provide teaching materials and even evaluation that can be accessed anywhere and anytime, since they can be uploaded and downloaded online in various forms, such as videos, articles, e-books, animations, audio, and other interesting media. In the future, the implementation of online learning will be compulsory so that teachers must be ready and capable to overcome those challenges. This skill can be trained through the LMS Development Workshop for E-Learning, organized by SEAQIS from 22 to 24 February 2022 at PPPPTK (P4TK) IPA.

This workshop was designed for internal SEAQIS in order to increase the Centre’s productivity in facilitating various programmes to improve the capacity of science teachers and education staffs in Southeast Asia. The speakers of this workshop were the lecturers from Centre of e-Learning and Open Education (CeLOE) Telkom University, which were Mr Wawan Tripiawan, Mr Oki Achmad Ismail, and Mr Fathah Noor Prawita. The presented materials are the use of LMS based on Modular Object-oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (Moodle), the process of making educational videos, and immersive learning using virtual reality.
