Two staffs of SEAMEO QITEP in Science joined a course on English Report Writing held by the Language Education and Training Centre, National Institute of Public Administration, Jakarta for five days from 15 – 19 April 2013. It was attended by seventeen government employees coming from different Indonesian Ministries.
The aims of the course was to upgrade and improve the participant’s knowledge of developing a formal report in English, and to give an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas, information and experience among them.
There were discussions, lectures, presentations on good format of reporting, the advantages and disadvantages of using graphs, charts, and tables in a report, function of selecting and organizing the material for the final report, and also tips on eliminating deficiencies in writing, that participants were reminded to use a variety of simple, compound, and complex sentences. The course was in general very important and interesting to follow, moreover by the involvement of well experienced instructors from the Language Education and Training Centre.
