Training of Science Laboratory Management

On 4 – 13 June 2013, SEAMEO QITEP in Science organized the training of Science Laboratory Management. It was officially opened by the Director of SEAMEO QITEP in Science, Prof. Dr. Ismunandar. This training was attended by 28 participants, who are the Science teachers from all over Indonesia and other SEAMEO member countries, such as Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Lao PDR, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. In this training, the participants learned about the management and administration in the laboratory (including the equipment and the chemicals), how to implement an experiment based on inquiry approach, how to maintain and repair the laboratory equipment, the health and safety in laboratory, designing the inquiry-based worksheets, the hands-on low cost laboratory equipment, and simulating inquiry-based practical works in laboratory. The participants actively involved in every activity during the training. They were also visiting Pudak Scientific factory in Gedebage, Bandung, to see the manufacturing of laboratory equipment and kits. At the end of the training, they performed cultural performance of their respective countries and regions.
