The aims of PRAISE, a collaboration project between SEAMEO QITEP in Science and Science by Doing centre of the Australia Academy of Science, are to implement at least two important pillars which are supporting inquiry base science education: i) develop a curriculum resource, and ii) professional learning community. One of the main point of this project is the piloting of learning resources involving 10 lower secondary schools. As the pilot implementation has been started since 1 October 2013, the progress review of the running process considered as a very important step to be done. The review needed to reflect the achievement progress and improve strategies to reach optimal results.
The 2nd In Service Workshop on PRAISE Project Implementation conducted from 31st October to 2nd November 2013 in Bandung Barat. It was designed to facilitate participants to reach the following achievements:
- comprehending how to implementing inquiry-based science teaching and learning principles in the classroom;
- improving the inquiry-based teaching and learning process through the PRAISE learning resources;
- improving strategies in conducting class action research through the PRAISE implementation;
- discussing problem arose during the implementation and finding the solution and
- strenghtening the collaboration among stakeholders to support the establishment of inquiry-based science education learning community.
Participants of the workshop were 50 science teachers and school principals of 10 pilot schools, as well as the academic supervisors of the schools.
