The SEAMEO QITEP in Science, Mathematics and Language in the collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Manila and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City organized the Training Course on Competencies Development of Science, Mathematics and Arabic Teachers in Davao City, Philippines.
The team of SEAMEO QITEP in Science consisted of Prof. Ismunandar, Dr. Indarjani, Dra. Lidiya Br. Sinulingga, Reza Setiawan, M.T, LiliIndarti, M.Hum, and KusumoWibowo, S.Pd. The team facilitated thirty-one local science teachers participating in the programme.
The opening ceremony of the training on 4 November 2013 was attended by the Education Attache of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. ParistiyantiNurwandani, MP and officiated by Mr.HermawanJanuWiboworepresenting the Consul-General of the Republic of Indonesia.
The theme comprised the inquiry-based science learning courses. The teachers were very enthusiastic at all sessions mainly at the hands-on activities utilizing the STELR equipment. The courses encouraged them to implement inquiry-based science learning in class.
Both parties, the the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Manila and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City expected more programmes can be implemented for teachers in Davao City, generally in the Philippines.
