CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON IBSE PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT

An official visit to Malaysia on 23-24 February 2015, by the Director of SEAQIS, Prof. Triyanta, PhD and Deputy Director for Programmes, Dr. Indarjani, has marked the implementation SEAQIS’s programmes for Fiscal Year 2015/2016. The purpose of the visit was to discuss and seek advices related to the Centre programmes Year 2015, strengthen the current joint programme and identify strategic future collaborations on IBSE Development. The first day of the visit was to meet Dr. Azian TS Abdullah, Deputy Director of EPRD, Ministry of Education of Malaysia who is also the Governing Board (GB) Member of the Centre, to report the preparation of GB Meeting 2015 that will be conducted in conjunction with the 50th SEAMEO Anniversary, as well as seeking advices in regard to the presentation of Ki Hajar Dewantara Award for Regional Best Science Teacher and other relevant issues related to the Centre’s development. In the following day, SEAQIS visited ISTIC-UNESCO to discuss details of joint training on innovative teaching and learning of science through IBSE phase III, to evaluate the previous training and the impact, to design the next training including content, model of training conduction, number or participants and facilitators both national and also overseas. It was also discussed the possibility to conduct IBSE/STEM Policy Forum parallel with Indonesia Academy of Science (IAPI) Celebration on 24 May 2015, and Prof Bruce Albert, President Barack Obama Special Envoy on Science Education also will be invited at that time.

The official trip to Malaysia was successful and the meetings were fruitful that resulted in some agreements related to programme implementation and opportunities in joint programme also revealed and will be followed up by the Centre.
