SEAQIS has completed the Competence Improvement Programme for Teachers, Headmasters, and School Superintends on STEM Learning within the working area of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) through an exhibition of the STEM Learning Output Implementation on 15 March 2023. This programme is a result of collaboration between SEAQIS and PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan and serves as one of the real actions of their social and environmental responsibility.
The exhibition took place at SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru and was attended not only by participants from seven regencies/cities within the working area of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan, but also by 100 teachers from Pekanbaru. Moreover, several leaders also attended this event, such as Mr Pahmijan as the Head of High School Improvement Department under the Education Bureau of Riau Province, Ms Suwarni as the Head of Junior High School Curriculum Division under the Education Bureau of Pekanbaru, Mr Yusmanidar as the Head of Education Bureau of Dumai Regency, as well as Corporate Secretary of PHR and SKK Migas Sumbagut.
Various kinds of products from the participants were exhibited, including device prototypes and food as the results of multiple sessions of training. The products displayed were also complemented with lesson plans and student worksheets, allowing visitors to understand how the learning programme progressed and led to the production of outcomes.
During her speech, Dr Indrawati as the Director of SEAQIS expressed her gratitude for the trust given by PHR and the support, not only from the Education Bureau of Riau Province, but also from the targeted cities or regencies on this programme.
She also presented the number of beneficiaries. “Starting from In Service-1 until the dissemination session, this programme has involved 143 participants, consisting of 21 school superintends, 40 headmasters, 38 high school teachers, 22 junior high school teachers, and 22 elementary schools from seven regencies/cities . Additionally, there are 290 participants, comprising 204 teachers and 86 headmasters from 108 schools around the targeted areas who attended the dissemination session of STEM Learning, delivered by facilitators. Therefore , the total number of beneficiaries in this programme is 533 teachers with more than 2.870 students.”
Overall, this programme has been successful in improving the pedagogical competency of teachers in planning and implementing STEM Learning as well as the competency of headmasters and superintends in supervising STEM Learning.
This point is further supported by the statement of Mr Novendri, the Head of Teacher and Education Personnel Development Department under the Education Bureau of Siak Regency, who also participated as an observer in this programme. “This training is highly beneficial and has an amazing concept in improving the quality of education for the advancement of the nation’s human resources. We hope that this is not the end, yet the beginning of STEM Learning Programme,” he said.
The Corporate Secretary of PHR, Mr Rudi Ariffianto mentioned that his company will always seek to improve the quality of educators, evolve the education, and empower the community around their working area. PHR additionally organises PHR achievement scholarship support, SAKAI Scholarship, and collaborates with several universities.
