Learning STEAM with Teachers at Al-Hamidiyah Foundation

On Tuesday, 21 March 2023, SEAQIS held a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) Learning Training for Kindergarten, Elementary, Islamic Junior High School, and Islamic Senior High School Teachers at Al-Hamidiyah Foundation, Depok. This activity was carried out in order to increase the teachers’ comprehension due to the launch of the Al-Hamidiyah Foundation’s latest learning method, namely STEAMMI (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics, Montessori, Islamic). STEAMMI adopted the modified version of STEAM  learning method by adding the Montessori and Islamic in the year of 2021.

This training focuses on increasing teachers’ comprehension in the materials since they have been exposed to the STEAM learning method. By considering the large number of participants which were divided into four levels, SEAQIS sent six teaching staff in this training, namely Mr Reza Setiawan, Dr Poppy Kamalia Devi, Mr Lukman Nulhakim, Mr Heri Setiadi, Mr Septian Karyana, as well as Nr Gunawan Muhammad.

The participants enthusiastically attended the series of activities which comprised of opening, theory comprehension, practice, and preparation of follow-up training plans. This could be seen from the mutual interaction between the participants and instructors, especially during the practice session. During that session, the participants were asked to produce tools based on a given problem using limited materials. Through this practice, hopefully the participants will be able to guide their students to think critically and creatively in solving problems around them.

Through this training, it is expected that the competence of teachers at Al-Hamidiyah Foundation will increase and the application of STEAMMI in learning will be more effective. As a result, the students will be independent, critical, intelligent, and competent in utilising technology.
