Reviewing Centre’s On-going and Upcoming Programmes Through the 15th Governing Board Meeting

 

SEAQIS has successfully conducted the annual Governing Board (GB) Meeting at the Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel, Yogyakarta, from 9 to 11 September. This 15th meeting was aimed to present reports on activities and programmes for the past year as well as propose some ideas for the upcoming year. There were 12 working papers presented during the meeting, such as the report on budgeting as well as the on-going and upcoming programmes. 

This year, SEAQIS held the annual meeting together with SEAQIL and SEAQIM. The meeting was officially opened by Dr Drs Rachmadi Widdiharto, the Director of Teachers for Primary Education. “We can work together to achieve our shared goal of education excellence inclusivity and equity. I ask all of you to engage in open, honest, and constructive discussion. Let us be in our vision and ambitious in our goals. The decision we make will not only save the future of SEAMEO QITEPs but also influence the further education of the Southeast Asia”, stated him. 

The meeting was attended by GB members from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Singapore, Timor Leste, and the representative GB from Thailand. Director of SEAMEO Secretariat, Datuk Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim also attended this meeting. Moreover, the representatives from the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Relations, the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Teacher and Education Personnel, the Professional Development Centre for Educators of West Java Province, as well as the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology joined as observers.  

The 15th Governing Board Meeting was closed with a cultural visit to Wanarata (Royal Carriage Museum) and Borobudur Temple. Moreover, the GB members also tried to create traditional Batik as the cultural experience.
