SEAQIS Drives Science Learning Innovation through Robotics for Philippine Educators in Bandung

In a visit that brought significant impact, Louis Aguado National High School from the Philippines conducted a benchmarking visit to SEAQIS in Bandung, Indonesia, on 6 May 2025. The delegation, consisting of one headteacher and nine science teachers, came to gain first-hand insight into how science education innovation—particularly through robotics—can be effectively implemented in their school. This visit marked the beginning of a major transformation in their approach to science learning, with SEAQIS serving as a centre of inspiration and innovation.

The visit’s main agenda, themed Robotics Education in Science Learning, provided the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of integrating 21st-century skills into the science curriculum. Through interactive presentation sessions, SEAQIS team shared deep insights into the role of robotics in fostering critical thinking, creativity, and inquiry-based learning. Beyond theory, participants were invited to observe how this approach is implemented in one of schools in Bandung, SD Citra Cemara, which showcased a practical example of robotics-based science education—complete with student projects, teacher training, and supportive facilities.

For Louis Aguado National High School, this experience opened up new horizons. They saw a tremendous opportunity to transform their science classrooms into dynamic learning environments aligned with the needs of today’s learners. The visit not only served as a source of inspiration but also provided a concrete direction for the development of their future education programmes. This momentum will continue through a planned in-country training in collaboration with SEAQIS, to be held in the Philippines at the end of July 2025. The training will not only involve teachers from their own school but also science teachers from other schools, with participants to be selected by the local Department of Education.

Once again, SEAQIS reaffirms its role as a driving force for innovation in science education across Southeast Asia. Through this visit, SEAQIS not only shared knowledge but also instilled a spirit of real transformation—bridging regional vision with impactful local practice.
