The spirit of innovation was on full display in East Java on 25 January 2026, as SEAQIS reaffirmed its commitment to regional STEM development by participating in a prestigious STEM Competition for primary and secondary school students. The event was hosted at the SMP Darul Ulum 1 (SMPDU1) Peterongan Campus in Jombang, a dedicated partner school that has consistently integrated STEM learning into its curriculum since 2018. Representing SEAQIS as a distinguished judge was Ms Lintang Ratri Prastika, whose presence underscored the long-standing synergy between the two institutions in fostering a culture of scientific inquiry.
During her keynote address, Ms Lintang provided the audience with vital insights regarding the strategic strengthening of STEM programmes, highlighting the collaborative efforts between SEAQIS and the Ministry of Education, Primary and Secondary Education (Kemdikdasmen). She emphasised that the success of the initiatives at SMPDU1 serves as a crucial blueprint for neighbouring schools, encouraging a broader adoption of integrated science and technology frameworks. On behalf of SEAQIS, she expressed her sincere gratitude and congratulations to the organisers for their unwavering consistency in delivering such a high-calibre event.
The highlight of the day was the rigorous adjudication of 15 finalists, who were divided into three competitive categories: Primary School, Year 7, and Year 8. The projects presented were remarkably diverse, ranging from sustainable solutions in food processing to sophisticated applications of microcontroller technology. As the finalists defended their work, the judges were impressed by the students’ ability to tackle real-world challenges with such ingenuity and technical poise. This competition stands as a testament to the power of long-term partnership and SEAQIS’s dedication to empowering schools that remain at the forefront of the global STEM movement.
