In improving their staff competence, SEAMEO QITEP in Science sent Ms. Lili Indarti and Ms. Retzy Noer Azizah to attend the English Public Speaking training in Lembaga Administrasi Negara (LAN) Jakarta from 8 – 12 April 2013. This training was a free program held by Balai Diklat Bahasa LAN, in order to improve the English speaking skill of the participants, specially speaking in public. There were 20 participants in this training that comes from other governmental institutions.
In the training, the participants learnt how to plan a speech, including the principle of public speaking, analyzing the audience, techniques of developing ideas, making a great introduction, making a powerful conclusion, conquering fear of public speaking, visual design, non verbal communication, handling questions, and language use. In the last meeting, all the participants must give individual speech based on their designed speech.
Hopefully, after attending this training, the participants can deliver a speech properly in public using English.
