SEAQIS' Staff conduct programs in Cambodia

From 25 – 28 November, two SEAMEO QITEP in Science staff, Ms Retzy Noer Azizah and Ms Dewi Ratih Fuji Astuti, and Mr. Muhammad Yani Hermansyah staff of Programme and Budget Planning Division of the General Affair Bureau of the Secretary General, Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia travelled to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to conduct several programs.

The first event was a meeting with Mr Sun Bunna, the Deputy Director of Department of Curriculum Development, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Republic of Cambodia and his staff. The purpose of the meeting was to seek suggestions from Mr Sun Bunna who is also the Centre’s Governing Board Member, concerning the most up-to-datecurriculum data as the Centre is conducting research on curriculum in Southeast Asia countries.

The team of QITEP in Science then visited one of the alumni of its training course, Mr Sot Danat in his school,TourlSvay Prey High School, to conduct classroom observation. For this Monitoring and Evaluation program, the team also met Mr Leang Samphot and Mrs Sim Cheanir, the Vice Directors of the School, and Mr Sot Danat’s colleagues to collect data regarding the Centre’s course programs.

The last program event was a meeting conducted at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) with its lecturers who were the alumni of the In-Country ICT Training of 2011 which was conducted in RUPP, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Afterwards, the team was invited by Mr Lok Phal Des, Vice rector of RUPP to discuss the next collaboration project in training for teacher and education personnel in Cambodia. The RUPP was representated by Mrs Suos Man, Vice Rector of RUPP, Mr Meak Kamerane, Dean of Faculty of Science of RUPP, Mr Ngorn Moi of RUPP, Deputy Director of IT Centre of RUPP, DrRerNat Nguonphan Pheakdey, Dean Faculty of Engineering of RUPP. Both parties agreed to have another meeting in the near future regarding the collaboration.
