Official Visit to Kualumpur, Malaysia

Started the fiscal year 2014, SEAMEO QITEP in Science did an official visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during 23-24 January 2014. The first visit was to ISTIC-UNESCO office to discuss further about the plan for having the 2nd collaboration training on IBSE for science educators in Asia and Pacific Region on 17-22 November 2014 in Jogjakarta where 3 parties will be involved in this training, ISTIC-UNESCO, CEDEC and SEAMEO QITEP in Science, requested the inputs related the development of the Center 2nd Five Year Development Plan and also indentified other potentials aspects to expand the collaboration.

In the following day, the official visit continued to meet Dato’ DR Misrah bin Haji Ibrahim, Chief the Schools Inspectorate and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education Malaysia, which is Head of Governing Board Member of SEAQIS in Putrajaya, Malysia. The agenda of the meeting were to report the process GB Meeting in Bali on 25-27 September 2013 and the progress of its follow-up actions include development of the Center  2nd FYDP Draft which proposed to have an ad-referendum on March 2014. The meeting also agreed to have in-country teacher training in Malaysia under shared resources and other possible collaboration programs related to the teacher performance improvement. Dato’ Misrah also mentioned of his intention to pay official visit to Indonesia in the next couple months.

The visits were considered as a success meeting and have increased regional visibility of the center as one of important aspect to determine the future center development.
