On Monday April 7, two staff from SEAMEO QITEP in Science, Mr Apep Nurjaman and Mr Muhammad Haidar Helmi, accopanied six staff from Jemaah Nazir dan Jaminan Kualiti Pendidikan Vokasional, Education Ministry of Malaysia, to several places technical and vocational education-related centres in Cimahi. They compared and researched education programs, assessment instruments, and the standard of education in Indonesia, especially vocational education, in order to apply these aspects to the Malaysian education system.
Led by Mohd Idrus kadir, the group visited PPPPTK-BMTI (Pusat Pengembangan dan Pemberdayaan Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan-Bidang Mesin dan Teknik Industri)/ EDC (Technical Education Development Centre). They were welcomed warmly by the Head of Centre, Dedy Hermanto, and had a beneficial discussion about the development of vocational teacher quality in technical areas. They were then accompanied by Dr Dahlan, IT Division Head, and Mr Kuswara, Program Section Head, for a tour of BMTI facilities and workshops.
SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi was the last place visited. They were welcomed with a student-led ceremony, angklung orchestra performance, and pleasant hospitality from school staff, with which they had a productive discussion sessions. Lastly, they had a tour of school facilities, programs, and various departments and classes.
