SEAMEO QITEP in Science keeps putting its intention on Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) as the centre’s niche. Lili Indarti and Dewi Ratih Fuji Astuti representing the Centre participated in the IBSE Writing Workshop (Cycle 3) and the Training on Teachers Trainers at ILIA Building, Universiti Brunei Darussalam on 5-19 April 2014.
The two programs were parts of Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam’s project to develop IBSE in Brunei Darussalam. The project is the three-years project and it has stepped in its second year. It aims to set science teaching materials for all elementary (Year 4,5 and 6) and secondary (Year 7,8 and 9) science teachers.
Selected science teachers with excellent achievement, officers of the units of the Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam, and the consultant, Dr. Mark Windale from Shallom University were involved in the programs. They worked on the draft of science teaching materials that will be finalized to be uploaded in the internet to be utilized by all science teachers in Brunei Darussalam.
The next cycles of the workshop and the training will continue in the following year to finalize all science topics of elementary and secondary levels.
