Public Lecture: Education for Sustainable Development, A Lesson Learned from Japan

During the visit of expert from Hiroshima University, Prof. Takehiro Hayashi, SEAMEO QITEP in Science conducted a public lecture on 17 March 2015 in the auditorium of the Centre. The event was attended by around 200 science teachers from West Java and also instructors of CDETEP in Science.

This public lecture was aimed at bringing the concept of education for sustainable development in Japan to public, especially to science teachers in Indonesia. Besides, this event also intended to encourage teachers to become more interested in ESD. The Centre also used this event to announce its training programmes that will be conduct this year.

During the public lecture, Prof Hayashi presented how Japan conducts the education for sustainable development. He also showed videos about natural disasters happened lately in Japan, and how they overcome the disasters.
