From 2 February to 2 April 2015, SEAMEO QITEP in Science welcomed five English literature students from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) for internship programme supervised by Mr Zuhe Safitra. During the internship, they were assigned to five divisions, namely, Secretariat; Research, Development, and IBSE Capacity Building; Public Relation, Partnership, and Marketing; ICT and Networking; and Programme and Training division.
In their two-month internship programme, they were assigned to help each division accordingly. As English literature students, their main jobs were related to English, such as writing, editing, translating, and corresponding. Other tasks that they did were designing, organizing files and folders, and telemarketing. In addition, they participated to be either audiences or committees in several workshops and seminars held by the Centre.
Even though their background is not science, their overall contribution to the Centre can be considered useful since the Centre is an international institution in which the use of English—especially in writing—is essential. It is expected that the internship programme can provide them useful experiences and knowledge for their future job. In addition, it is hoped that the good relationship between the Centre and UPI can be further established.
