SEAMEO Council President, His Excelency Pham Vu Luan, Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam, conducted a courtesy visit in Indonesia from 27 to 29 January 2015. On 28 January 2015, His Excellency visited one of SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia, namely SEAMEO SEAMOLEC located in Pondok Cabe, Pamulang, Jakarta. This visitation programme was organised by the six SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia i.e. SEAMEO BIOTROP, SEAMEO RECFON, SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, SEAMEO QITEP in Science, SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics and SEAMEO QITEP in Language.
During the visit, the six SEAMEO Centres collaboratively conducted an exhibition of their publication products. SEAMEO QITEP in Science displayed its leaflet, newsletter, PRAISE’s books, training modules, video profile as well as its fifth anniversary book.
After visiting the exhibition booths, the president of SEAMEO Council attended a teleconference between SEAMOLEC and a high school in Vietnam. The program was closed with a remark by His Excellency.
In his remarks, the President of SEAMEO Council extended his gratitude and sincere appreciation for the hospitality of the six SEAMEO Centres. He then congratulated for the appointment of Dr Gatot as the new Director of SEAMEO Secretariat. He acknowledges the works of SEAMEO Centre in improving education in the region. He also appreciated the efforts of the Centres in maintaining its existence, especially SEAMEO BIOTROP which has existed for more than 40 years. At last, the President would like the six Centres in Indonesia to have collaboration, not only with SEAMEO RETRAC but also with universities in Vietnam.
