As one of realisation activities in 5 years collaboration scheme between SEAMEO QITEP in Science (SEAQIS) and the Education Office of Aceh Jaya Regency (2015-2020), the Training on Competence Improvement for Science Elementary School Teachers and Academic Supervisors in Aceh Jaya Regency was organised from 4 to 8 September 2017. The venues were respectively in SD Negeri Calang 3 and the Education Office of Aceh Jaya Regency. These training courses were also conducted simultaneously with the training for elementary school language teachers by SEAMEO QITEP in Language (SEAQIL) and training for secondary school mathematics teachers by SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQIM). The joint opening ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Education Office of Aceh Jaya Regency and attended by the Head of Elementary Education Division, Teuku Jabbar SPd, and the Deputy Director for Programme of SEAQIS, Dr R Indarjani representing three SEAMEO QITEP Centres’ resource persons as well as all training courses’ participants.
The SEAQIS’s training was attended by 80 elementary school teachers and 17 academic supervisors from totally around 190 participants of the three SEAMEO QITEP’s training courses. The training participants got reinforcement in the implementation of new Indonesia curriculum, especially in the learning process and class supervision. The resource persons from SEAQIS for the teachers’ training were Dr R Indarjani, Mr Reza Setiawan, Mrs Eka Danti A, and Mr Dian Purnama while for the academic supervisors’ training were Mrs Tati Setiawati and Mrs Nita Suherneti. In the last session, the participants were asked to make action plan, which was then compiled and reported to the Education Office of Aceh Jaya Regency. SEAQIS also encouraged the participants to keep contact in alumni forum, so the accompaniment during the implementation of the training’s results can be occurred.
