Jayapura – A total of 47 science teachers of Junior-Senior-Vocational High School in Jayapura City participated in the In Service Training 2 of the Training for Head of Science Laboratory Candidates on 9 – 13 October 2017. This activity was a continuation of the In Service Training 1 in April and On the Job Learning in May – September.
Dr R Indarjani, Mr Arief Sidharta, and Ms Lintang Ratri Prastika represented SEAQIS to be facilitators in the In Service Training 2. Conducted in the auditorium of Institution for Quality Assurance of Education Papua Province, the cooperation training between the Department of Education and Culture of Jayapura City, Science Teachers Association of Jayapura City, and SEAQIS was opened by Dr Indarjani as the Deputy Director for Programme of SEAQIS. It was continued with material explanation and various group activities to use tools and materials for science experiments.
The training was closed by the Head of Education and Culture Office of Jayapura City, Mr I Wayan Mudiyasa, on Friday, 13 October 2017. The closing was also attended by the Head of Primary and Secondary School Division and Junior High School Principals of Jayapura City. The closing activity was even reported by local TV and mass media.
After attending this 150-hours training course (In Service Training 1 = 40 hours, On the Job Learning = 70 hours, and In Service Training 2 = 40 hours) the participants have sufficient competence as Head of Science Laboratory (personality, social, managerial, and professional) in their respective schools, so as to improve the quality of the laboratory as a means of learning science in improving the students’ critical thinking, creative thinking, cooperation and communication skills through experimental science activities.
