Dr Indrawati (SEAQIS Director), Mr Reza Setiawan (Deputy Director for Programme), and Ms Ayu Intan (Partnership Staff) visited Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto (UMP) on 24 May 2023. This visit was intended to discuss further the MoU that has been signed regarding the collaboration programme with postgraduate school of UMP.
On the first agenda, SEAQIS team attended a meeting with several lecturers from postgraduate school: Dr Eko Hariyanto (Director of Postgraduate School); Dr Subuh Anggoro (Head of Primary Education Study Programme); and Asih Ernawati, Ph.D (Head of English Education Study Programme). Furthermore, a representative teacher from UMP Elementary School also attended the meeting to introduce the school.
After that, SEAQIS team along with Dr Eko and Dr Subuh had a meeting with Assoc. Prof. Dr Jebul Suroso (Rector of UMP), Ir Aman Suyadi (Vice Rector I for Academic and Partnership Sector), and Ms Kiky (Home Affairs Partnership Staff). The last stop of this visit was UMP Elementary School near the university where SEAQIS team along with Dr Subuh met the teachers there and discussed a bit about the plan to build STEM class and laboratory.
During the fruitful discussion, both parties has decided to collaborate in enhancing teachers’ competencies in Purwokerto through several programmes, such as joint research and publication with master students in UMP (which also dominantly work as a teacher or a headmaster), workshop, and give an opportunity for UMP’s lecturers to contribute as a reviewer or a contributor in SEAQIS Journal of Science Education (SciEd).
Through this collaboration, SEAQIS and UMP wish that many teachers, especially in Purwokerto, can come to the university to join a training or other activities conducted by UMP with SEAQIS in order to gain more knowledge in STEM or other topics in science and implement it in their respective schools.
