SEAQIS and PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Enters the Third Year STEM Learning Programme

The continuation of the STEM Learning Programme between SEAQIS and PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR WK Rokan) officially commenced on 28 August 2024 with a virtual Focus Group Discussion (FGD) that set the stage for the third year of this impactful initiative.

In his opening remarks, Mr Pandjie Galih Anoraga (Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of PT PHR) expressed his enthusiasm for the programme, which has been successfully implemented over the past two years. “We are delighted to support this great programme that has already made a difference,” said Mr Pandjie. He highlighted the importance of this year’s activities in motivating students to pursue interests in engineering and technical fields, areas closely aligned with PT Pertamina’s core operations. Mr Pandjie also emphasized the programme’s potential to equip teachers and students with the skills needed to develop simple, locally relevant technologies.

Following this, Mr Zuhe Safitra (Acting Director of SEAQIS) spoke about the programme’s significant achievements. “This programme has received recognition from the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and has even won an internal PT Pertamina CSR programme competition,” Mr Zuhe noted. He assured participants that SEAQIS would continue to align the programme with the cognitive levels of elementary and middle school students, ensuring its relevance and applicability within the framework of the Indonesian Curriculum.

The FGD featured a comprehensive presentation of the upcoming year’s programme by Mr Reza Setiawan (Deputy Director for Programme of SEAQIS), followed by a detailed discussion led by Dr Poppy Kamalia Devi (Head of Programme and Training Division) focusing on participant selection and technical processes.

This discussion marks the first step in preparing for teacher training, set to begin in September 2024. As SEAQIS and PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan move forward, their continued collaboration promises to further strengthen STEM education, inspiring and equipping the next generation of students with the skills and knowledge to thrive in technical fields.
