To improve the competence of primary school teacher in science concept, knowledge and content mastery, SEAMEO QITEP in Science, in collaboration with Indonesian Overseas Alumni (IOA), conducted Science Content Knowledge Mastery for Primary School Teacher for Primary School Teacher in Kejajar, Wonosobo Regency from 18 to 23 Februari 2019, taken place at SD Ma’arif Tieng. The participants of the training were 145 primary school teachers divided into two batches. The first batch was conducted from 18 to 20 February followed by the second batch started from 21 to 23 February.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of SEAQIS, Dr Indrawati, Executive Director of IOA, Ms Tanti Sugiharti SInggih, and the Coordinator of Local Education, Youth and Sport Office for Kejajar Sub-Regency. The opening ceremony was marked by the signing of Memorandum of Agreement between SEAQIS and IOA.
The training employed a 32-training hour pattern where the participants learned about Electrical Circuits, Energy, Animal and Human Physiology and Anatomy, and Plant Structure. The facilitators of the training were Dr Dedi Herawadi, Mr Reza Setiawan, Mr Heri Setiadi, and Mr Dian Purnama. The training was smoothly and lively because the teachers did many interesting experiments which were expected to be passed on to the students. Some teachers said that this training was very useful and very different from the kind of training they had participated in. They hope to continue to be involved in the following trainings.
This training was also special with the presence of three NusantaRun Chapter 5 runners who were also the donors for this training activity. They were welcomed very warmly and received high appreciation from the teachers. The next training is scheduled on March 2019 for the third, fourth and fifth batch.
