SEAQIS Research Grant Monitoring to Jombang Regency

In order to increase the interest and enthusiasm of teachers in conducting research and writing scientific papers, SEAMEO QITEP in Science (SEAQIS) has a research grant program for teachers entitled SEAQIS Research Grant (SRG).

In 2019, there were selected 30 research teachers who received grants consisting of elementary, junior high, high school and vocational school teachers from various regions in Indonesia. To find out the implementation of research in the participants’ schools, SEAQIS assigned its personnel to provide assistance to grantees.

In the mentoring activity, the SEAQIS team visited the grant recipients’ schools and monitored the preparation of the lesson plans and worksheets, the STEM projects that were undertaken and observed the implementation of the lesson plans prepared in the learning activity.

One of the areas visited by the SEAQIS team in conducting SRG assistance was Jombang Regency. There are two grantees in this Regency, Mrs Astri Faizah from Darul Ulum 1 Middle School and Mr Ismail Harianto from Darul Ulum 1 High School.

SEAQIS personnel assigned to provide assistance to Jombang Regency are Dr Elly Herliani and Mrs Lintang Ratri Prastika. The assistance in Jombang Regency lasted for 3 days starting from 26-28 August 2019.

During the assistance, the grantees received guidance on the preparation of the lesson plan and Student Worksheets used in the study. After that, SEAQIS personnel observe and retrieve data when the grantee conducted learning in the class. The class observed at that time was Mrs Astri Faizah’s class at Darul Ulum 1 Middle School. She carried out STEM learning with a hand sanitizer project in class VII semester 1.

Many inputs were given during the mentoring; it is hoped that the grantees could complete the research on time, prepare reports according to the template, and obtain quality research results so that they can then be published in national/international seminars.
