Continuing the collaboration with Guangxi Science and Technology Museum, SEAQIS attended the 7th Guangxi Youth Science Festival conducted in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China, from 11 to 13 September 2019. SEAQIS was represented by Dr Indrawati, Mr Zuhe Safitra, Mr Dian Purnama, and Mr Haidar Helmi. Besides, there were also representatives from the University of Lampung, Prof Agus Suyatna and Dr Dewi Lengkana.
The Guangxi Youth Science Festival aims to promote the scientific spirit, improve the scientific literacy of the whole people, promote the co-construction and share scientific and technological education resources for adolescent, improve comprehensively the scientific quality of adolescent, and promote the healthy physical and mental development of minors by building and improving the socialized platform of “great alliance and cooperation” in scientific and technological education for adolescents. In this event was, SEAQIS presented STEM Education applied in Indonesian’s traditional toys. The traditional toys were chosen because toys are not only fun but also educating. It is proven that toys can increase children creativity and motoric skills, and through STEM Education, games and toys can be more meaningful; children can learn science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
During this event, Dr Indrawati, Director of the SEAMEO QITEP in Science and Guangxi autonomous regions CAST party secretary, vice chairman and other leaders Xiang were met. After the meeting, Huang Xinghua, deputy director of Guangxi Science and Technology Museum and deputy director of Guangxi Youth Science and Technology Center, as a representative, signed a memorandum of understanding with Dr Indrawati to promote scientific and technological education exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Through the signing of the memorandum, the two sides would form a consensus and carry out exchanges and cooperation in science and technology education, especially for young people; actively promote cooperation and exchanges in the field of science education, encourage institutions and personnel to carry out exchange activities with each other; maintain long-term contact and Consultation, strengthen exchanges and mutual visits between the two sides, invite the other party to participate in relevant science education activities, and expand the scope of cooperation between the two sides. In the future, the two sides will continue to strengthen close exchanges and cooperation in science and technology education.
