The 2020 SEAMEO-Japan Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Award

The annual 2020 SEAMEO-Japan Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Award is back! It is a collective commitement of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan (MEXT) in cooperation with UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education to promote best practices in ESD in schools across Southeast Asia. This year’s theme is “Addressing Plastic Problems for Transforming Communities.”

The objectives of the 2020 SEAMEO-Japan Award are:

to promote waste management system and other plastic initiatives in schools in Southeast Asia and Japan that contribute to the transformation of communities and ecosystems;
to share initiatives and good practices that support sustainable development through the integration of waste management system into the holistic school programme; and
to encourage schools to develop and improve their current ESD activities and programmes.

All public and private schools as well as vocational and technical schools (certificate level) in 11 SEAMEO Member Countries are very welcome to participate!
