Training Course on Integrated ICT into Science Learning: “Machine Learning for Science”

 

To enhance teachers’ knowledge and skills of ICT application in science learning, SEAQIS conducted training entitled, “Training Course on Integrated ICT into Science Learning: “Machine Learning for Science” from 1 to 3 August 2023 at SEAQIS office, Bandung.

This training, which was a follow-up action from SEAQIS collaboration with UNESCO, was attended by 31 science and ICT teachers from various junior high schools in West Java, Lampung, and West Sumatra; Mr Zuhe Safitra (Deputy Director for Administration); Mr Reza Setiawan (Deputy Director for Programme); as well as officially opened by Dr Indrawati (Director of SEAQIS).

The teachers learned how to utilise the software for creating simple Artificial Intelligent (AI), such as “Teachable Machine” and “COGLABS”, and for coding using blocks like “Scratch” and “MIT App Inventor” in order to develop students’ creativities as well as science learning innovation. The materials were delivered by Mr Dian Purnama and Mr Gunawan Muhammad from SEAQIS team.

All participants in this training were excited to learn and do the given tasks. Mr Adrian as the ICT teacher from SMP Darul Hikam and Ms Rika as the science teacher from SMPN 14 Bandung stated that the materials are necessary to be taught to their students to enhance their knowledge, specifically on IT, and create more innovative learning in science.

At the end of this training, Mr Reza Setiawan expressed and hoped that the knowledge provided could support the learning process in schools, especially in ICT and Science fields. Furthermore, he wished that SEAQIS could continue to organise this kind of training in order to increase the skills of teachers and education personnel in Indonesia.
