Relishing Ramadhan: Public Speaking Workshop and Iftar with SEAQIS

 

In order to elevate the capability of public speaking among employers and interns, SEAQIS arranged public speaking workshop followed by Iftar afterhand on 4 April 2024 at the Trans Luxury Hotel, Bandung. The occassion was opened by a report from Mr Rizwan Darmawan as the Head of the Human Resources and General Affairs Division, continued by the welcoming remark from Mr Zuhe Safitra as the Acting Director. 

The workshop has officially begun as the participants sung the Indonesian national anthem, followed by the screening of SEAMEO Colours and SEAMEO Song. As the session continued, enthusiasm from the attendees peaked as Mr Riesky, the speaker for the workshop, delivered the material regarding the principle of public speaking which was later elaborated and divided into the three main sub-categories. This initiative is aimed to leverage SEAQIS employers and interns’ public speaking skills. The topic of the workshop is separated into three main strategies that speakers need to master before public speaking. These contents include self-control (breath control, eye contact, gestures, and facial expressions), content delivery (story and materials structuring), and engagement (vocal variations, articulation, abbreviations, and acronyms). Group discussions and mini games were also enabled to encourage practise and stimulate moods among the participants. A photo session and speaker awarding were then conducted to mark the closing of this session.  

After the public speaking workshop, the event is carried on by the opening sessions of from the deputy of Programme, Mr Reza Septiawan, before the next rundown towards iftar. The series of the following event serves as a way to promote a stronger relational bond among SEAQIS personnels. To support this goal, MSIB Batch 6 interns performed a ramadan themed stage play involving gimmics and musical performance. Afterwards, Mr Septian Karyana preached about building loyalty through real sincerity as a way to further acknowledge the spirit of ramadhan. As an extension to this, mini games were played together to spend the remaining time before Iftar.   

Anchoring on the essence of ramadhan, the series of the initiated events are expected to further maximise and develop future potentials of skills and togetherness of every member associated in SEAQIS.
