Joyful Science, Joyful Learning, Joyful Competition with SEAQIS

 

On 8 May 2024, SEAQIS successfully organised “The 3rd SEAQIS Wide Games Competition: Computational Thinking for Joyful Science Learning”. This event marked a significant milestone in SEAQIS’ journey, leading up to its 15th-anniversary celebration on 13 July 2024, under the grand title “SEAQIS Pentadeca Fiesta” as well as to celebrate the National Education Day in 2024.  

The opening ceremony started with a motivating speech from Ms Lintang Ratri Prastika as the Head of Committee, highlighting the organisation’s goal to foster critical thinking and teamwork among participants. Mr Reza Setiawan as the Deputy Director for Programme officially started the event by explaining SEAQIS’ company profile and the competition itself. He encouraged everyone to direct their excitement towards science learning and make the most of opportunities. 

The event attracted 32 students and eight teachers, all eager to partake in the challenges ahead. Participants embarked on a thrilling post-to-post game, solving clues as they navigated through the competition. The real challenge in this competition was to solve every problem in each post that covered different topics of science, namely: (1) Abstraction post in chemistry; (2) Pattern recognition post in biology; (3) Algorithm post in physics; and (4) Decomposition post in climate change. Upon completion of the competition, the Wide Games participants were involved in fun quizzes session and lively jargon performances. The room buzzed with excitement and togetherness as everyone eagerly anticipated in the announcement of the winners. 

The culmination of the event was the announcement of the winners, recognising outstanding achievements: (1) Best Jargon Team: SMP Taruna Bakti; (2) The 3rd Place: SMP Kuntum Cemerlang Bandung; (3) The 2nd Place: SMP Taruna Bakti Bandung; and (4) The 1st Place: SMP Darul Hikam Bandung. As the event drew to a close, Mr Rizwan Darmawan (Head of Human Resources and General Affairs Division) took the stage to deliver his closing remarks. In his closing words, Mr Rizwan expressed optimism for the future, affirming, “May the successes of today inspire even greater accomplishments in the days to come.”
