The Science Teacher’s Capacity Enhancement on STEM Learning successfully wrapped up from 27 to 29 November 2024 at San Juan De Mata Elementary School, Tarlac City, Philippines. Organised by SEAQIS, the programme brought together 30 science educators dedicated to advancing their teaching expertise and fostering a passion for STEM in their students.
Over three days, participants engaged in dynamic sessions led by SEAQIS Academic Team, Ms Lintang Ratri Prastika and Ms Elly Herliani. Highlights included in-depth discussions on global trends in science education, interactive workshops to identify and design engaging STEM projects, and practical exercises for developing STEM-based learning assessments. The programme also encouraged collaboration among teachers, fostering an exchange of ideas to address real-world challenges in STEM education. The closing session featured the creation of detailed action plans, equipping participants with ready-to-implement strategies tailored to their classrooms.
By the end of the training, educators reported heightened confidence in incorporating STEM approaches into their teaching practices. The action plans, a key programme outcome, are expected to inspire students’ critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills. SEAQIS hopes this initiative will pave the way for sustainable improvements in science education across Southeast Asia, ultimately preparing students to thrive in the challenges of the 21st century.
