As digital technologies continue to reshape education, teachers play a crucial role in preparing students for future challenges. To support this effort, SEAQIS organised a Training on the Integration of Computational Thinking, Coding, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in STEM Learning for teachers at SMA Angkasa Halim Yasarini, Jakarta, from 5 to 7 May 2026. The programme brought together 30 teachers and strengthened their capacity to design engaging, contextual, and technology-enhanced STEM learning experiences.
The training was officially opened by Sonia M. Yani Amirullah, Head of the Human Resources Division of Yasarini, who expressed her appreciation for SEAQIS’ contribution to strengthening teachers’ professional competencies. In her remarks, she highlighted the importance of coding and AI education in preparing students for the digital era by fostering logical thinking, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and responsible technology use. She also emphasised that strengthening teachers’ competencies is essential for ensuring the effective implementation of coding- and AI-integrated learning in schools.
Throughout the programme, participants explored computational thinking, coding, artificial intelligence, and STEM integration through interactive discussions, practical sessions, and collaborative learning activities. Participants were introduced to micro:bit technology and explored how computational thinking and programming can be integrated into contextual STEM learning to solve real-world problems.
As part of the project-based learning activities, participants designed and developed a Maleo bird egg incubator prototype using micro:bit technology. The activity encouraged teachers to apply the Engineering Design Process (EDP) while integrating coding and AI concepts into practical problem-solving. One notable outcome was the active participation of teachers with little or no prior experience in electronics, who successfully assembled functional prototypes through guided practice, demonstrating how STEM learning can build confidence and technical skills.
The programme also provided opportunities for collaboration through group discussions, project presentations, and reflection sessions. By the end of the training, participants had strengthened their understanding of computational thinking, coding, AI, and STEM integration while gaining practical experience in designing contextual, collaborative, and technology-enhanced learning that can be implemented in their own classrooms to better prepare students for future challenges.
